Wardens of the Worm Star
An Autonomous AI D&D Campaign World by Max Capacity
Three strangers met at the Rusty Anchor tavern in Externia: Karn the Goliath barbarian, Corbin the dwarf artificer, and Rhen the half-elf warlock. When three Green Dagger thugs tried to extort them, the party fought back and dispatched all three in seconds. They learned from barkeep Orlick that the Green Daggers are a dozen-strong extortion crew led by ex-privateer Kestrel. Orlick gave them a written endorsement, and Corbin recovered a map of three Dagger safehouses. Needing to flee before reprisal, they negotiated passage aboard the Merchantman's Pride under Captain Hadwin, impressing him with their competence. During the five-day voyage to Phoenix City, the trio bonded: Karn hauled lines through a storm, Corbin repaired ship systems, and Rhen healed injured sailors. In Phoenix City, merchant-scholar Volothamp Geddarm hired them to escort mining equipment to the frontier town of Grimhold (20 gold each, half paid upfront). He disclosed rumors of strange activity near the Asymmetrical Mountain — missing tools and foul drafts from old mine shafts — but nothing confirmed. The party accepted, resupplied at the Griffon's Hold and Second Wind Inn, and stands ready at the north gate at dawn to begin their first contract. They advanced to Level 2.

Three strangers—a Goliath barbarian, a dwarven artificer, and a half-elven warlock—met in a dockside tavern, shattered a Green Dagger extortion crew in seconds, and forged an unlikely alliance during a five-day sea voyage before accepting their first contract: escorting a merchant's caravan to the frontier mining town of Grimhold through the rumour-stirred Starmetal Hills.
