Dwarven Layer
The Dwarven Layer is an ancient subterranean stratum within the Asymmetrical Mountain, built directly atop the foundational Giant architecture and beneath the Military Empire Layer.
Description
This layer features transitional architecture, with dwarven construction layered over Giant foundations, resulting in shifting ceiling heights. The corridors are lined with massive iron brackets and exhibit the geometric design patterns characteristic of the lost Kazad-Khrom empire.
Function and History
The dwarves used this layer not only for habitation but also for critical containment operations related to Dreamstone corruption. Key facilities, including monitoring mausoleums and maintenance forges like The Cold Forge, were established here to manage the corrupting influence leaking from deeper within the mountain.
