Grand Stairwell
The Grand Stairwell is an ancient, monumental staircase that provides the primary access from the Military Empire layer to the Dwarven Layer deep within the Asymmetrical Mountain.
Description
The stairwell consists of broad stone steps, each approximately three feet high, requiring careful climbing. The architecture transitions from Military Empire masonry to older, heavier dwarven construction as it descends. A rusted metal plaque at its head bears the warning: "LOWER PALACE. AUTHORIZED MILITARY PERSONNEL ONLY." The air within carries scents of deep earth, old iron, and strange metaphysical presences.
Significance
The stairwell serves as the critical vertical artery for descent into the deeper strata of the mountain, leading directly to sites of ancient containment like the Sealed Crypt.
