Kazad-Khrom
Kazad-Khrom is a lost dwarven empire whose extensive ruins and infrastructure comprise the Dwarven Layer of the Asymmetrical Mountain.
Architecture and Culture
The empire's construction is characterized by monumental, enduring stonework, functional geometric patterns, and advanced industrial engineering. Their legacy includes massive forge complexes, sophisticated cooling and pump systems, and intricate mining networks.
Containment Legacy
The dwarves of Kazad-Khrom were engaged in a long-term, systematic project to contain the entity known as The Black Slumber. This involved the strategic use of lead seals, Dreamstone monitoring, and the forging of special Adamantine plates to create dream-mirror seals. Their infrastructure, such as The Cold Forge, was integral to both their industry and their containment protocols.
Recent Discoveries
Surface explorers have begun restoring key facilities like the Cold Forge, effectively continuing the dwarves' containment work and altering the strategic landscape within the mountain. The reignition of the forge has re-established a heartbeat of industry in the long-dormant complex.
