The Maker's Rest
The Maker's Rest is the tomb of the Giant architect Korathan, located within the outer ring of the Giant foundation level beneath Asymmetrical Mountain.
Architecture and Defenses
The tomb is a monumental structure built to Giant scale, with its primary entrance sealed by a forty-foot-tall obsidian door inscribed with ceremonial Giant script. Its interior is a series of chambers and corridors protected by traps and puzzles calibrated for Giant physiology and intellect. These include the Pressure Corridor, which requires understanding narrative logic in wall carvings to navigate; alchemical gas nozzles; Gravity Stairs with reversal runes; a Resonance Chamber requiring harmonic counter-tones; and a philosophical path choice between Strength, Endurance, and Knowledge that reveals a hidden "Harmony" corridor.
The Burial Chamber
The innermost chamber is a circular, domed room where Korathan lies in stasis on a stone bier. The walls are covered in dense runic sequences preserving his personal techniques, theoretical frameworks, and the scaling runes essential for maintaining the containment vessel. The chamber provides perfect psychic shielding from The First World Sleeper's influence.
Purpose
Far more than a simple crypt, The Maker's Rest functions as a secure archive and technology transfer site. It was sealed by the Architect's Council following Korathan's entombment to safeguard the dangerous and vital knowledge within, ensuring it would only be accessible to those who demonstrate both respect and comprehension of the architect's work.
